SF 2231 allows a person to operate or ride a snowmobile or ATV while carrying a firearm on rented land. Current law allows this on land that is possessed or owned by the operator. If the person does not own, rent or possess the land, they must have the weapon concealed and have a valid permit to carry. Violation is a simple misdemeanor with a $100 fine.

SF 2293 allows an auto dealer who has more than one established place of business to designate one place for keeping all the books and records. The bill also sets the documentary fee at $180 and makes it subject to an annual percentage adjustment equal to the consumer price index. Finally, the bill requires a motor vehicle franchiser to specify in writing to franchisees the obligation for preparation, delivery and warranty of services related to the franchiser’s products.

SF 2324 requires Administrative Rules to allow pickup trucks that carry nine or fewer passengers, including the driver, and weighing 10,000 pounds or less to be used as school buses. The rules also allow a passenger van designed to carry 12 or few passengers, weighing 10,000 pounds or less, and not carrying more passengers than there are safety belts or harnesses. The operator of a van used as a school bus must comply with sections 321.375 and 321.376.

HF 2302 adds vehicles equipped with hazardous material or emergency management equipment to the list of rescue vehicles. When responding to emergencies or supporting emergency personnel, these vehicles may proceed through stops and exceed speed limits, while exercising safety precautions and using an audible or visual alerts.
