Thank you, Veterans!

November 10, 2021 Senate Staff 0

The commitment of Iowans to serve our country has been strong since the Civil War. That’s why the Legislature has worked to make Iowa a great place for veterans and their families, encourage returning service members to make Iowa their home, and ensure they receive the education, job opportunities and quality of life they deserve.

Iowa GOP doesn’t support fairness for workers

November 4, 2021 Senate Staff 0

We need an economy that works for hard-working Iowans, not the top 1%. Democrats will continue to fight and show up for workers and retirees who have earned a bigger paycheck and secure retirement. Republicans haven’t shown up to support striking workers for one simple reason: they don’t support them.

Senate Dems vote for nonpartisan maps

October 28, 2021 Senate Staff 0

Today, the Iowa Legislature approved a non-partisan redistricting plan in a strong, bipartisan vote. This is a win for all Iowans who care about our government and about our ability to come together, solve problems, and improve people’s lives.

Let’s approve 2nd nonpartisan redistricting plan

October 21, 2021 Senate Staff 0

If Republicans vote down the second map, that will be the clearest sign yet that they are rushing to gerrymander Iowa’s legislative map and rig election outcomes in their favor. They can make a definitive statement today against gerrymandering by stating they’ll vote for the fair, non-partisan maps that were just released.

Economy recovering thanks to Biden, Dems

October 15, 2021 Senate Staff 0

Pres. Biden & Congressional Democrats provided much-needed help to Iowans through the ARP. Statehouse Republicans want to give more tax cuts for the wealthiest few. We support tax cuts for hard-working families–those who need the relief. We oppose more state handouts & sweetheart deals for Gov. Reynolds’ financial donors & friends.

Republican leaders must rule out gerrymandering, accept second map

October 14, 2021 Senate Staff 0

Republicans are threatening Iowa’s fair, nonpartisan redistricting process. They have continually kept on the table the prospect of adopting a new, secret district map drawn by unknown lobbyists and powerbrokers. They must rule out gerrymandering and accept the second legislative map that we’ll see next week.
